Keep the focus on the science, not the software

The reasons to use probeware in science classrooms are numerous:  the ability to gather accurate data and graph results in real time, allowing students to capture measurements that were previously too difficult to do by other means, and a faster setup time with less equipment are just a few of the benefits it provides.

And what if we at PASCO told you it would be simple to implement?  No confusing interface, no complicated instructions - just an intuitive solution to integrating the power of probeware into your classroom.  A way to make labs and activities more effective and enhance your lessons, your way.

That's where SPARKvue comes in.  The same software that powers our standalone SPARK Science Learning System is now available for use on your computer.  Simply connect an interface and plug in any one of more than 70 PASPORT sensors and you can immediately begin collecting data.  It really is that simple.  And in a touch screen environment it becomes even more "hands on."

 Simple but powerfulsparkvue-picture

SPARKvue was designed to be a solution for science students of all levels -- simple enough for elementary-level learners but with the features to suit the needs of advanced physics, chemistry, biology or environmental science students.  The key is that SPARKvue has a layered interface which doesn't overburden the user with tools, but reveals powerful capabilities when needed.

And the bold, full-color interface allows you to use media-rich content to grab students' attention and keep them engaged.  You can create your own labs with any graphics or text that you wish or purchase the set of over 60 SPARKlabs we have created for every subject area.

SPARKvue - the simple, convenient, reliable and complete solution to using probeware in your classroom.

Once a sensor is plugged in, it is immediately recognized and ready to collect data.

61 Free SPARKlabs!

The Only Integrated Science Labs

SPARKlabs are complete science activities designed for use with the SPARKvue software.  Each lab contains the background information, materials & setup instructions, and data collection all in one place as well as prompts for students to answer questions, make predictions and analyze their results throughout.

There are SPARKlabs in the areas of Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science and Physics as well as SPARKlabs designed specifically for Middle and Elementary school students.

No more flipping back and forth on photocopied lab handouts or worrying that students haven't read the necessary background info before coming to class - with SPARKlabs the information is presented in a stepwise fashion, as it is needed.

Students are presented with the background information to read and then are immediately asked to demonstrate their understanding by answering questions.  And just as with data they collect or analysis questions afterward, any and all student input is captured in their electronic journal with the push of a button.  These saved screens can be printed out and turned in or easily collected by the teacher with a flashdrive.  This initial offering of 61 SPARKlabs provides a foundation for any of the major sciences, but there are plenty more in the works.

Create graphs in real time, including multiple measurements on the same screen or multiple runs on the same graph. Then analyze that data with a robust set of tools.

Completely integrated labs with background, data collection, analysis and assessment throughout.

xplorerThe Xplorer offers state-of-the-art datalogging to get your students involved in data gathering and analysis. Your students can plug in a sensor, press the start button, and begin data collecting immediately.

In the classroom . . .

Directly connected to the computer, students collect real time data and see it displayed instantly on their computer screens. With few or no computers, students can collect data at their desk or lab station, and then download into computers located elsewhere.

In the field . . .

Collect data from under a second to an hour, a day, or a week -- anytime, anywhere. When your students are finished, they just plug the Xplorer into the computer and download all the data, identified by time and type of sensor. If no computers are available, collect data and scroll through it at a later time to manually produce tables and graphs.

Special Features

Xplorer is the most versatile datalogger available:

Default measurement options (e.g., sample rate, measurement) are automatically set for each specific sensor, but can easily be customized. Plug Xplorer into the USB port of your PC or Macintosh, and DataStudio software automatically launches, retrieves, and displays your data

Real time measurement in the lab:

Works without batteries when connected to a computer's USB port. When connected to a computer, the display is active while making real time measurements. Create multi-sensor experiments with any combination of Xplorers and USB Links. Use multiple Xplorers with different sensors, in different locations, in the same experiment -- DataStudio software will merge their data into one data set!

Real time measurement in the field:

Display all measurements and units in the field, in real time! Seamlessly take multiple measurements with different sensors (e.g., temperature, pH, and conductivity of water). One set of AA batteries provides hundreds of hours of power during slow measurements, or between 12 and 24 hours of continuous, fast measurement, depending on the sensor used.

Flexible data measurement methods:

Automatic sample measurements can be taken in durations ranging from 1000/second to one per day. Single measurements can be taken on command. Switch sensors within a data set! Store up to 50,000 measurements, depending on sensor used. Collect up to 100 sets of data -- using different sensors and various measurement options for each set! Review and manage all data sets and remove a specific one or all.
