maxresdefaultThe “Electric Train” - utilising non-ferrous conducting wire, a battery, and powerful conducting

magnets, the result is a fascinating experiment that displays the basic principles of

electromagnetism and engineering. The end product is a train made of a battery and magnets that

propels itself through a coil of wire using electromagnetic force. And ideal demonstrator of key

aspects of electromagnetic induction.

The spring is Australian made from spring grade 1.25 mm phosphor bronze and is machine wound

and acid washed for best results. It double as a wave demonstration spring making this an ideal tool

for demonstrating a range of key ideas guided towards STEM and physics education.

Integrate the four components of STEM through an engineering design challenge in the life or physical sciences with a tangible product or process as the outcome.

PASCO's new STEM modules integrate the four components of STEM through an engineering design challenge in the life or physical sciences, with a tangible product or process as the outcome.

Each module:

  • Is guided by the national standards
  • Incorporates a problem-based learning approach, emphasizing inquiry
  • Incorporates both independent and collaborative work
  • Includes both formative and summative assessments
  • Features an engineering design challenge as the culminating project.

25 years ago PASCO developed a revolutionary dynamics cart and we've continued to make refinements and improvements over the years.  But now we've taken a great leap forward.

The New Smart Cart (patent pending) is the ultimate tool for studying kinematics, dynamics and more. It is based on a durable ABS body with nearly frictionless wheels just like our high quality PAScars. But now we've added built-in sensors that measure force, position, velocity, and 6 degrees of freedom in acceleration. And the Smart Cart can make these measurements on or off a dynamics track and transmit the data wirelessly over Bluetooth®.

PS3200 MAIN 185715Our most cost effective interface.

Connect one PASPORT sensor via Bluetooth® or through a USB connection.

Collect data in or out of the classroom using computers, tablets or smart phones.  The all-new AirLink is the most economical way to use PASPORT sensors. Just plug the sensor in, connect to your device and begin collecting data.  New for 2016, Bluetooth pairing is done within the SPARKvue app making the entire process quick and simple.

Need more than a single PASPORT sensor per lab station?  Multiple AirLinks can be used simultaneously.

The AirLink is compatible with our entire line of over 80 PASPORT sensors.

Measure force, acceleration, and rotation. This sensor is ideal for experiments involving rotating platforms, moving carts, Newton's Laws, spring oscillations, collisions, impulse, and more. The wireless design offers improved measurements without a cable affecting experiment outcome. Finger-holes support handheld applications. Easily mounts on rods and dynamics carts.

force sensor PS 3202

  • Measure both force and acceleration for less than the wired version.
  • Simultaneously measures force and acceleration along three axes and resultant acceleration.
  • Features simple, in-app Bluetooth connectivity and long-lasting rechargeable battery.
  • Probe can be quickly zeroed through software for accurate taring.
  • Easily mount on rods, dynamics carts, etc.

Make accurate and consistent measurements of gas pressure, regardless of ambient conditions and explore how chemical reactions affect gas pressure. Combined with a temperature probe, students can study the Ideal Empirical Gas Laws.

PS3203 angled MAIN 185719

  • Measures pressure relative to an internal, sealed vacuum, which allows the collection of reliable data.
  • Supports common units (kPa, atm, psi, mmHg, or N/m2).
  • Bluetooth® Smart and long-lasting rechargeable battery.

Measures the pH of a solution as discrete measurements or as a continuous reading. Use the probe to study water quality, test household solutions, perform high resolution acid-base titrations, and more.

pH Sensor PS 3204 Down V1 2

  • High resolution allows even subtle pH changes to be observed.
  • Default calibration lets students get right to data collection. Custom calibration is supported.
  • Uses durable, accurate gel-filled Ag-Ag CI electrode.
  • Bluetooth® connectivity and long-lasting coin cell battery.

Access instant temperature readings and continuously monitor and plot data in SPARKvue software on nearly any device. When class time ends, students can set the sensor to log data autonomously for days or weeks and then download the data for analysis.

PS3201 MAIN 185716

  • Simplicity: just pair and go
  • Variable sampling rate
  • Logs temperature data directly onto the sensor for long-term experiments

micro1This newly developed microphone can serve both analog and digital, depending on the cable connecting.
Thus, you can use the microphone with counters, stopwatch, PASCO digital adapter or analog inputs.

The microphone can be used to determine the speed of sound, or to make a study of musical instrument tones and overtones. The microphone comes with a 10 mm Ø stand rod - but without cable.

GeneratorThese models are well known among our customers, but have not been available as sets before. Now all the necessary parts are conveniently combined into one part number per set. The parts may also be purchased individually.

(Note: Cables, power supplies and measurement or data logging equipment is not included.)

The models are open for inspection and investigation by the student. As they are built mostly from standard parts they inspire the students to further experiments.

476050Students will easily grasp the concept of three phase electricity when they work with this simple generator setup.

To show the phase difference between the induced voltages, hook up two of the coils at a time to an oscilloscope – or even better: Use data logging to graph all three phases in one diagram.

If you have a three phase power supply you can extend this generator set with accessory set in order to demonstrate three phase motors.
